The Equipment you need for your Home Gym

The Equipment you need for your Home Gym

Here it is, the topic we get asked most about – ‘what do I need for my home gym?’

When asked why people do not exercise, most say one of two things: they don't have enough time, or they simply do not have access to a Fitness space.

However, by creating a space in your home dedicated to exercising, you can save time and exercise without going to a gym, which is perfect as right now most are temporarily closed. Even better, it does not have to cost the world.

When setting up your own gym, you want to have equipment that you can use for multiple exercises as this way you will achieve the most benefits. Based on customer feedback, research and industry knowledge, we have collated our top 5 to help you in your fitness journey!

1: HAND WEIGHTS

A few different weights can be utilised for so many workouts. The lighter weights can be used for endurance work with high reps, and the heavier ones can be used for more traditional methods of resistance training, including rotational power and core.

2: YOGA MAT

A mat is a must-have: It prevents sweating on your carpets, acts as a cushion on hard surfaces and provides traction so you don't slip while completing your routine. It’s also the perfect place to relax after an intense workout – 5 minutes of child’s pose will allow you to reset you for the day ahead or wind down before bed. Our favourite is the MBX mat from Les Mills.

3: A JUMP ROPE

It is intense, but worth it. If you want a very inexpensive way to get an intense cardiovascular workout, look no further than this classic from your childhood. Jumping rope improves reaction time, balance, and agility - You can burn an average of 200 to 300 calories in a mere 15-minute workout.

4: RESISTANCE BANDS

For such a small piece of equipment, these bands can really pack a punch. Resistance Training has been recognised for its effectiveness in fat loss. One reason for this is due to the amount of energy expenditure and strength required when performing this type of training. The harder you work out and the more energy you put into your Resistance Training; the more calories that you will end up burning.

Our favorite is the Les Mills SMART BAND.

5: EXERCISE GLIDERS

Gliders or sliders are the perfect equipment addition as they are lightweight, portable, and compact, making them perfect for small spaces. Sliders will drastically increase your balance and core strength as well as being very beneficial during low-impact workouts.
